One Day in the Life of a Receptionist

[wassup wif those random comments?... =S... i'm worried. Shan's commentin heaps! Hehe... so awesome... dude man... start workin out and get fit! =P... hui hui]

How the day just slips by without you noticing it- today, this was entirely magnified.

I came to help out at my Mum's work place today- at Asia Times, the new Chinese newspaper that was born just 3 weeks ago. Mum's always staying out late before each weekly issue, so I decided to come and help her out today since it's my holidays. She was quite reluctant to grant permission, but in the end she allowed me to come and help out just for today (and maybe for one day next week too). I had the job of an Office Girl, where I did the little miscellaneous, no-one's-really-employed-to-do type jobs. I typed invoices, addressed mails, took phone calls, photocopied quite endlessly, and even managed to slip a little bit of Applicable Maths into my day as I ran out of things to do towards the end of the day. I also went to the post office and the bank with Mum, to get the daily formalities out of the way.

In the morning, after only typing a few invoices and addressing mails, it was time for lunch; and by the time you know it, I'm doing overtime. I'm still at the office using its internet and blogging, which isn't really good work ethic... but, I guess I seriously have nothing to do. I intended to start reading my history books, but the internet got the better of me. It feels like I have done nothing today... and the day just slipped by me, as if it never existed. Quite strange, to feel the pace of 1 day so directly. Now I understand why Mum stays here till such late hours, it's not that she didn't finish her work for the day, but there is simply too much work and too little time.

Making the most of each day- seriously, live it to the max.

Hui Hui ^^b
